FERTILE PASTURE || PREMIUM WOOL

The Farm

We are located just outside the township of Bannockburn in the South Western district of Victoria.  A steady traffic travel past the homestead on the Midland Highway between Geelong and Ballarat.  This area is renowned for its green pastures, vineyards and golden wheat fields.  The 40 acre property sits on top of an escarpment that overlooking the winding Moorabool Valley below.  40km inland from the Bass Strait, it is about 25km from the Port Phillip Bay and the You Yangs.  Grazing on some of the best agricultural lands in Victoria, it is about 240m above sea level.  We enjoy mild summers and approximately 500mm annual rainfall.

The land is divided into multiple acreage paddocks.  Rotating grazing helps pasture to rejuvenate regularly.  This is the best and sustainable farming practice.

Our Sheep

Our Merino sheep are bred using ewes from Pendarra Merino (in Benambra, Victoria) and ram from Macehill Merino (in Stockdale, Victoria).  They have great fertility, mothering ability and temperament.  Their wool are soft to handle, long stapled and well defined.  Pure white, stylish crimpy and nourished fine fibre.

Our Cheviot sheep are from Welshpool in South Gippsland of Victoria.  They are distinctive white-faced sheep, with a wool-free face and legs, pricked ears, black muzzle and black feet. It is a very alert, active sheep, with a stylish, lively carriage.  The Cheviot’s qualities have always been renowned. Its hardiness, its activity, its will to survive, its high fertility, mothering ability, low maintenance.  This is a highly productive breed.  Bigger, meatier, with a heavier and better quality fleece. The Cheviot is a versatile, multi-purpose sire, both for a finer, dense woolled first-cross ewe, and for fast maturing, lean prime lambs.
