This trial is open to all dogs who train at Avenglenn, Coimadai Park and Animal Works (and those we know are experienced with stock).
Everyone who has done the Beginners courses we encourage you to enter and come along for the day.
IMPORTANTLY: This is a fun day!!! It is all about helping new people, enjoy their dogs and spend a day with like-minded people in a supportive atmosphere.
Prizes are Easter Eggs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and of course a Judges Award for the most improved (which is one of our beautiful toy sheep).
Eventually, we will run serious trials based on ISDS and FCI rules (this is down the track).
Beginners: All dogs will work on a long lead and a muzzle if needed – an experienced person will walk with the dog and handler team to assist with dog holding sheep in corner while handler opens gates etc. This is all about learning skills – dogs learn quicker, when they are taught using skill based exercises (because it makes sense to them).

Entry Fee is $10 per dog – entries will be open on The Rosewood Farm page in a week or so.

We encourage everyone to enter and come along and have a great day out with your dog. As usual we abide by the COVID safe rules. Please bring your own cup, plate, cutlery etc – Sausage sizzle provided (sausage, bread and sauce- nothing fancy). Tea/coffee provided.

On arrival at 1515 Blackgate Road, Freshwater Creek…

Enter via the open gate with cattle grid.  Follow the driveway and past the white farm house which will be on your left.  Then veer left past the machinery shed which will be on your right, through the second gate and park in the area near the shearing shed.

This is a working farm with livestock on the property, so please restore all gates to the way they were when you passed through them.

Dogs must be on lead at all times.  Vacant paddocks are available to exercise your dogs.  Dam within an enclosed paddock is available for off-lead purpose.  Please clean up after your dog.

Check-in at the shearing shed and submit your signed Waiver Form (Download here in PDF format).  Training cost can be paid in cash on the day, or bank direct credit prior to the day.

What to bring?

  • Crate for your dog or a suitable lead to tie them in the shade to relax when they are not working.
  • Water for you and your dog
  • All dogs to wear a flat collar (no choke collars etc.)
